Building up the strength in your pelvic floor muscles can help you gain better control of your bladder and urine flow. Remember, that just as it takes time to build your biceps and strengthen any other muscle in your body, it takes time to strengthen muscles in your pelvic floor.

Kegel exercises (also called “pelvic floor exercises”) strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support your uterus, bladder , small intestine, and rectum. Kegels don’t just help keep them “fit” -- they can help you avoid embarrassing accidents, like bladder leakage and passing gas and -- or even stool -- by accident. They can even improve your orgasms.

When you first start doing your Kegel exercises, you may not be able to repeat the exercise 65 to 75 times. This is ok. It is much better for you to do fewer Kegel exercises that make your pelvic floor muscles stronger, than to do more exercises that do not work the muscle in the right way. As you get better at doing your Kegel exercises, slowly increase the number of times you repeat the exercise until you reach 75. Your goal should be to do 75 Kegel exercise three to four times each day.

Stress incontinence is experienced when the pelvic floor has been weakened. This means that when bladder pressure occurs (through coughing, sneezing or rapid exercise), the surrounding pc muscles and bladder are unable to stop leakage.
A tube called the urethra, which is surrounded by a special ring of muscles called the urinary sphincter, leads from the bladder through the prostate and penis to the outside of the body. As the bladder becomes filled with urine, complex nerve signals ensure that the sphincter stays contracted and the bladder stays relaxed.
Male urinary incontinence is both preventable and manageable. Kegel exercises can help you take control of your leaky bladder.
Sit on the toilet and try to pee. Once urine starts to flow, squeeze your muscles to hold it in. You should feel the muscles inside your vagina “lift.” You just did one Kegel. Relax the muscle and do it again.
